Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

This FAQ will be updated regularly with more information. If you have questions about how Arcane Valor works, you may find an answer here.

How do I join your guild?
Joining is easy. We do not have a questionnarie to fill out or an application process, nor do we require your firstborn to join (unlike some guilds in WoW). You can ask to join us and one of the officers will chat with you to see if we have the kind of guild structure you are looking for. Yes -or- No... it is really that simple.

What kind of guild is Arcane Valor?
Fun comes to mind. Close knit as well. We are a medium to heavy role-play guild although everyone has a different idea about what constitutes *role-play*. We try to stay in character as we play WoW, but no one is forced to do this. People pay to play a game and have fun. So we try to accommodate those who perhaps like to RP, but are not as hardcore as others. We do *not* focus on the endgame, we focus on people in the guild playing the game. Loot whores, end gamers, and uber-l33t pwnzers need not apply.

How long has Arcane Valor existed
and how large is the playerbase?

Arcane Valor was founded 2/9/2006. As of 11/21/2006 the playerbase was 47 accounts with 87 players.

Are you actively recruiting in order for the guild to grow larger?
We recruit and grow slowly. We do not spam recruiting ads on any channel, but we have placed an add on the Kirin Tor Guild Recruitment Forum. We prefer slow recruitment in order to make sure no one in the guild is a faceless member who gets lost in the shuffle. It is really disheartening to be in a huge guild where no one knows you and you are left to fend for yourself. A complaint heard many times.

Do you recruit based on level or class?
No. We don't care if you are a level 1 Druid just starting out or a level 45 Warlock. What we care about is the kind of person you are and do you role-play. We like to build up from within and make an investment in the people who are in Arcane Valor. This takes more time and it can limit some of the things we do, but we have fun nonetheless.

I have a main in another guild, but I would
like my alt to join your guild. Is that allowed?

You pay to play a game and have fun. We cannot and will not dictate what guilds you can put your characters in. If you have an Alt and would like to join us, please do :)

But my alt is not as active as my main.
Will I be kicked from the guild if I do not play everyday?

We are very lenient about kicking inactive's from the guild. You are not required to play with us everyday or even every week. It is up to you how much time you devote to Arcane Valor.

However, if you are inactive for two months (as listed in the guild information), you will be kicked. Additionally, logging in to check mail and logging out does not constitute being active. If you are not participating with the guild, you are considered inactive and will be kicked. This applies both the Alts and Main characters.

What happens if someone quits Arcane Valor, but
decides they want to come back?

We call it the *3-strikes and you're out policy*.

  • Strike 1 - you quit and want to return. Ok, we all make mistakes. No one is forced to remain in our guild so if you left for whatever reason, but have decided you want to return, you will be welcomed back with no questions asked.

  • Strike 2 - you quit again, then want to return again. This goes beyond a mistake and starts to be disruptive for the guild. We do not have a revolving door. So you will be welcomed back with open arms, but it will be noted that you have quit and returned twice.

  • Strike 3 - you quit again. You are out, end of the line. People get attached to each other and you have now disrupted the guild one too many times with your coming and going. Safe travels, but you will not be allowed back in again. This applies to your main and any alts. You are likely a wonderful person, but for whatever reason you just don't have the desire to invest time and energy into building Arcane Valor.

What do you mean *invest*?
Guilds don't just materialize and build themselves. It takes committed people to keep a guild going. You either want to *invest* some time and energy into making a great guild even better or you don't. Your choice. We are very flexible with people, but not to the point where we have a revolving door or an *anything goes* mentality. We like to have fun but we like to be responsible too.
